mailbag, 6/7/2005

Dear foxes:

I have been accused by some admitted students of writing only when I want money. This is patently false, as sometimes I write when I want people to send in transcripts, and then later, when you're a student, I'll write when I want you to volunteer. But there is a measure, a shred, a grain of truth in the accusation, and so I confess, yes, I am once again writing to ask you for money. A quick reminder: our second deposit deadline is Wednesday, June 15, 2005. If you've already sent it in and you're nonetheless getting this email, please ignore it; you'll get a letter within a few days confirming our receipt. (If you know, however, that your plans have changed, I'd be very grateful if you could hit reply and send us a quick email to let us know. And our waiting-list participants will be grateful too.)

We look forward to seeing you in Ann Arbor soon--please stop by the Admissions Office if you're in town to look for housing, and we'll help in any way we can. And in the meantime, enjoy the summer!

Cheers--

Sarah C. Zearfoss

life in the lc

Ms. Nafranowicz,

I called regarding the Lawyers Club lease and the lady suggested that I contact you via email with my question.

The lease says, "If for any reason student disenrolls prior to the full term of the lease, the price of the fall term will be 65% of the entire lease price." Does this pertain to a student who disenrolls before he moves in (or before classes start)? The lady on the phone said that there is a cutoff date before costs start being assessed but she was unsure what that date was, and in what amounts. Your help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
foxes

The clause you mention is intended to speak to persons who move into the Club and then may w/d from school for any reason (including illness, dropping out, graduating in Dec, etc.) If you don't enroll and let us know prior to August 1, we will reassign your lease w/no penalty. After Aug 1 we have a very very difficulty time finding someone to take over the lease. If you are, for example, on the waiting list for another school and would like us to pass you by during this round of lease offers, please don't sign the lease and just let us know. We can place you back on the waiting list and give you a few more weeks. After July 1 all bets are off and you must conform to the lease.

ding dong foxes is dead?

over the past few weeks, i've received a number of frantic emails from obsessive fans: "where is foxes? what am i going to doooooo????" allow me to put most of your concerns to bed—foxes is probably dead.

when it all started, i wrote to euphrates with prophetic words:

i'm going to give you a username
i'll call you fatty
how's that
fatty with password iamfat`

i'll probably post intermittently from here on out. i'm going to taiwan tomorrow for two months. if for some ungodly reason you are there or will be there, drop me a line. bye for now.
